Welcoming Myrtis Elizabeth | A Birth to Remember

Baby Walton’s birth was one I will never forget. When Sallie hired me earlier in 2024, I was beyond excited to document their journey. This was their third baby, and they had chosen to keep the baby's sex a surprise until birth—a decision that made every moment leading up to that final reveal even more special.

A meaningful maternity session

Before Myrtis’s birth, I had the honor of photographing the Walton family’s maternity session at the breathtaking Japanese Tea Gardens in San Antonio. The love and excitement they shared were palpable, and it was clear how deeply connected they were as a family.

A Unique Hospital Birth Experience

When the day finally arrived, I made sure to get to the hospital a little earlier than usual—and I’m so glad I did. This was my first hospital birth where the mother was allowed to eat beforehand, which was such a refreshing change. After a nourishing meal, Sallie turned her full attention to helping her baby descend.

She worked through labor intentionally—using a peanut ball, swaying, and listening to grounding music that kept her centered. The labor comb, a simple yet powerful tool, was by her side, offering comfort as she rode each wave. Every detail, from the warm glow of the hospital room to the quiet strength in her movements, told the story of a mother deeply in tune with her body and her baby.

A Fast & Powerful Arrival

Then, everything changed in an instant.

Sallie hit transition so fast that we went from active labor to pushing in just 30 minutes. The energy in the room shifted as she roared her baby into the world with strength and determination, leaving everyone in awe.

And then, in a moment of pure, overwhelming joy, Baby Walton #3 was placed on her chest.

“It’s a girl!”

The room filled with happy tears and laughter as Sallie and Doug welcomed their daughter into their arms.

Myrtis Elizabeth Had Arrived

Just an hour later, her excited older siblings walked in to meet their new baby sister, their faces filled with pure wonder. The love in that room was undeniable as they took turns gazing at and gently touching their newest family member.

With full hearts, Sallie and Doug made the long-awaited calls to share the news—she was here, and her name carried deep meaning.
